Chuck vs the Angel de la Muerte

This week's episode of Chuck has ended. How great was it that we get three episodes of Chuck in two days after such a long wait. The only bad thing about that is it possibly means a short season. Well, a short season is better than no season.

The show might be called Chuck, but tonight it was Devon aka Captain Awesome that shined.

Usually taking a backseat in the plot and only being seen on screen for a few minutes during an episode, he was pushed forward into the 'Chuck' spotlight. For those of us who have been watching the show since season 1, we all know just how "AWESOME" Captain Awesome is, but we never really got a feel for the man behind the awesome. Sure we've had a few glimpses here and there, more so in season two than one, but nothing like tonight.

for all you Captain Awesome fans out there here are some 'awesome' Awesome videos to help pass the time

Ryan McPartlin's: Captain Awesome audition

Best of Captain Awesome: Season 1

and the recap begins now

(DISCLAIMER: THERE WILL BE SPOILERS...lots and lots of them)

UCLA Medial Center 2000

First day of medical school, one of the doctor’s inquires if someone wants to help him make an incision. He suggests Devon Woodcomb, but he is nowhere to be found and when he believes Ellie Bartowski should try she is no where to be found either. Both are in one of the closets aggressively making out

9 years later

The two are in the process of moving and Ellie finds their photo album of the wedding and Devon (Captain Awesome) promises here no packing for tonight and they might ‘recreate’ their wedding night later, because Ellie feels that that day was so long ago. She then hears a helicopter and mentions there’s been a lot of helicopters lately, but Awesome tells her that ‘he hasn’t noticed.’

Chuck arrives at his apartment and when he goes into his room he’s greeted by Awesome who tells him that he should have his pilot land further from the apartment. The two then have a conversation about what Chuck had been doing, though Chuck only calls it a CIA mission. Awesome reminds Chuck that he’s supposed to come over and help with their TV.

We are then taken to Awesome and Ellie’s new place, Chuck is putting up the TV and when he’s done they turn it on to suggest. Chuck flashes on a man on the TV, the Premiere/Dictator of Los Cosas Gravas, who has been taken to hospital, after suffering a sudden heart attack. Ellie has left the room and Awesome notices that Chuck looks like he might pass out and asks what’s going on. Chuck tells him that it’s spy business and leaves. A few seconds later Awesome gets a page and has to go to the hospital, promising Ellie to make the night up to her.

Casey, Chuck, and Sarah are all being briefed by the general and we learn that Casey had three orders to kill (the man) but failed all three times, to which Sarah jokes about him “having a perfect record.” We learn that the man is being treated at Westside Medical and that Awesome is his doctor.

Being released from the hospital. The three watch as Awesome handles a press conference and Chuck’s in shock when he speaks Spanish to a woman. Sarah asks “if there’s anything he can’t do” to which Chuck replies “hence the name.” Casey tells Chuck that he needs to talk to Awesome. To debrief him and get the information out of him.

Outside of the house Awesome is returning home with Chuck sitting and waiting for him. He debriefs him and Awesome tells him that what he’d suffered hadn’t been a heart attack because of the potassium levels. Chuck thanks him and Awesome tells him that if the CIA ever “needed another pair of hands.” He continues on saying that he needs adventure. A slightly confused Chuck mentions that he’s “a extreme sports cardiologist” Which led to what could easily become my favorite Awesome quote “I can do that in my sleep.” He tries to convince him a little more, but Chuck tells him no “Ellie would kill me”

Our favorite new spy has given the others the information about the Premiere and the general tells them that she believes someone is trying to kill him and that they need to protect him. Casey says he’s sitting this one out because he’s a wanted man in the Premiere’s land, having earned the nickname Angel de Muerte. They are interrupted when they see the Premiere and army men outside and though Casey thinks they’ve found him, Chuck knows they are there for Awesome.

Inside Awesome and Ellie’s, he’s working out on the stationary bike and she’s trying to get some sleep when there’s a knock at the door. It takes a while but finally Awesome answers it and is surprised to see who’s there. There’s a bit of fear and confusion on his face, but the Premiere tells him that he’s “saved his life, how can I repay you?” and gives him a hug. Ellie comes out and the Premiere winds up inviting them to the gathering that he’s throwing.
At the ‘party’ Awesome asks Chuck what his mission is and Chuck tells him it’s to watch Ellie and not keep his eyes off of her. They then spot that the Premiere has taken a liking to Ellie and wants her to be by her side for the night.

(commercial)

Sarah comes and saves Ellie from the Premiere and there’s a conversation between the two about how Ellie believes Sarah is still in love with her brother, at the same time Chuck and Awesome have one about how he and Sarah weren’t really a couple and Awesome tells him it must be hard to fake being in love with someone for three years.

The Premiere gives a speech and then says he wants to dance…with Ellie.

Casey sends them a photo from the van of who they believe the assassin is. He’s on the other side of the room and Sarah says they need to take him out before the guards see them. They have to get across the dance floor. Flash. Chuck and Sarah begin to dance along with the others, Chuck is now a smooth dancer, not awkward as we’ve seen in previous episodes. He knocks the man out with an elbow, but they have the wrong guy, he was only a protester. A few guards tell them that they’ll go outside because they’re drunk and as they are escorted out, Chuck flashes on dressed as a guard.

Casey now has to go in disguised as a soldier. He walks in heading towards the dance floor as the assassin comes the opposite way. Awesome and Ellie are talking when he sees the disguised Casey pulling a gun and runs tackling him. The mustache comes off and there’s that classic look of ‘oh shit’ on Awesome’s face. The real soldiers see who it is and grab Casey taking him out. The Premiere thanks Awesome for saving his life again, and Ellie couldn’t be any prouder of her husband, but Awesome knows he’s messed up.

(commercial: I really love the Honda/Olympic commercials with Awesome, Ellie, and Morgan “okay no more power ballads.”

The general has told Chuck and Sarah to wait before trying to get Casey back. She wants to use diplomatic measures, because the Premiere’s country is in danger.

Casey is trapped to a chair and the Premiere is talking to him. He tries to tell him that he was protecting him, but of course the Premiere doesn’t believe him. The assassin comes in to help with the interrogation and he gets a cigar ready for the Premiere who wants to handle Casey himself. When the assassin hands him the cigar, Casey kicks it out off his hand, but eventually he smokes it anyway and collapses.

Awesome and Ellie are back home when he gets a message from the consulate about the Premiere. Outside he meets Chuck and tells him that he can get them in, because the Premiere wants him to be his own personal physician.

In the secret base, he’s of course, impressed by the fact that there is a secret base, and Chuck tells him not to touch anything. Talking to Sarah, who’s come in, Chuck tells her that he believes Awesome can get them in to the chancellor. Awesome states he has a plan, but Sarah is way ahead of him.

We are then transported outside the gates where the Premiere is, the three dressed head to toe as doctors.

(commercial)

Back in Casey’s cell the assassin has come down again. He’s going to kill Casey, and he mentions he works for the Ring.

Awesome has come into where the Premiere is held and he says he’s in trouble.

We are taken between Awesome, Chuck and Sarah and Casey and the Assassin.

The plan for Chuck and Sarah is to go and get Casey, taking out some guards in the process, and Casey takes out the assassin, breaking himself free of the chair he’d been strapped in. As he tries to get up a guard coming down shoots him in the leg, and is knocked out by Sarah. They go upstairs and try to get Awesome to leave, but he refuses because his mission isn’t over, he’s here to save the chancellor, and that they should leave because the men are trying to kill them.

They don’t get too far, as the Premiere’s right hand man and a few other guards are there to stop them. They see Casey and still don’t believe that they are there to protect the Premiere. Casey collapses and Chuck tells them that they need to get him to a doctor, but the guard tells him that he has a doctor. Chuck. IF they’re not assassins he should be able to do this.

A nervous Chuck is getting ready to work on Casey’s leg, but luckily when he calms a little he flashes and is able to get the bullet out successfully. There’s a brief moment where they share in Chuck’s moment, but they are interrupted when the Premiere starts taking a turn for the worse. Awesome tells them that the only thing that will save him is a blood transfusion, but he doesn’t even know the blood type. Casey informs him that it’s AB negative and Chuck finds out that Casey as AB Negative…of course Casey is not fond of the idea of his blood being taken and put in the Premiere.

(commercial)

A groggy Casey wakes up and the general thanks him for his sacrifice. Casey thinks it was just about the bullet, but when Sarah wonders that he doesn’t remember, he puts things together and that classic “I’m going to kill you Chuck” look comes on his face. He is given a gift from the Premiere, a box cigars and a note in which he calls him the Angel of Light.

We then see Awesome and Chuck having a conversation about how Awesome realizes he wouldn’t want to be a spy. He couldn’t see himself having to give up half of his real life because of it.

There is a short conversation between Sarah and Chuck about how they for now their relationship should be that of friends, and how Chuck could handle “faking being friends with her.”

Ellie is walking down the stairs as she holds a phone conversation with Awesome who’s at the hospital. She has a surprise for him when he gets home from work, and he tells her that he has one patient then he’ll be home. Before hanging up telling her “I believe I owe you a dance.” He goes to the room and we see that the assassin is sitting there, a syringe in his hand.

Standing outside his door, Chuck sees Sarah as she comes up and walks up to him, whispering something about Awesome, of course using his real name, Devon. We don’t know exactly what she says, but we know it’s bad as she pulls Chuck into a hug. This is interrupted by Ellie who comes out of her home and asks the two of them if they’ve “seen her husband.”

Chuck vs the Three Words

Hour two of the long awaited Chuck premiere has commenced and this episode was even better than it's predecessor. This is of course what keeps Chuck fans coming back for more each week, and what I hope will draw knew Chuck fans in. The episodes just keep getting better and better. The characters all have a relatability to them in some way or another. The action is good, the dialogue is believable and most importantly everything about it is executed perfectly (at least in my opinion)

and now on to the recap
(remember that spoiler warning on the first episode...yeah it applies here too)

(recap which includes Karina from season 1)

After this recap we see a man with a case running and some men following him, one shoots him and the man obviously in charge takes the case.

Sarah and Karina are at a club talking and she mentions that Sarah has broken the spy rule, and we then go to Chuck and Morgan who are sitting in his living room, Morgan telling him that he’s broken the carnal break up rule. Morgan then convinces Chuck they should go out for the night.

We soon find out that they have gone to the same club that Sarah and Karina are at, and that Karina’s boyfriend is Carl (played by Vinnie Jones), the man we saw earlier taking down the man with the case. Flash. Carl is an arms dealer. Chuck has a new mission.

(opening credits and commercial break)

Big Mike is back, sporting a pin striped suit, making him look a bit like the Buy More Mack Daddy. He tells him that they no longer “know the meaning of the word no.”

Morgan stands at the nerd herd area and he asks Chuck if there’s anything on the guy with Karina but Chuck tells him no. Lester and Jeff come over to tell him that no one that he’s described like that can be into him. We then see Karina walking in, Morgan getting excited, but she walks past him and to Chuck.

The four spies are meeting and speaking to the general where Karina has a plan, and Casey opposes going undercover as Karina’s father, but settles for her uncle, “her father’s much younger brother”, and like all missions this one rests on Chuck’s shoulders

In the Buy More staff room, Lester and Jeff try to get Morgan to ask Karina out, which leads to him planning to have a ‘party.’

At Chuck’s house Morgan talks to Chuck as he gets ready for his ‘date’ with Sarah.

Sarah then proceeds to get ready herself, and she and Karina talk put on jewelry and make up. Sarah asks her if she ever thought it “this was all real” That this was actually Karina’s engagement party to which Karina replies “No” and cocks a gun, hiding it on her person under her dress.

Back to Chuck and Morgan, Morgan hands him a flyer to give to Karina….a housewarming party.

At the engagement party things are in motion, and Casey is introduced as Uncle Johnny, sporting a wig, a fake mustache, and some glasses. After introductions and a quick hello between everyone, Chuck pulls Sarah aside to talk. Karina sees this and after Sarah walks off she grabs Chuck telling him that he’s “ruining her mission.” Chuck tells her that ever since Prague Sarah’s been cold, and it’s then Karina informs him that Sarah’s cold “because she loves him.”

(commercial)

Chuck runs after Sarah to tell her what Karina has told him, but she tells him that they need to focus on the mission.

In a room Carl and Karina have a short conversation and as she hugs him she slips something to Sarah as she walks by.

On the steps Carl gives a toast, as Chuck and Sarah sneak about the house. The toast is too quick, so Karina stalls by having ‘Uncle Johnny’ speak. As he gives his speech, Chuck and Sarah find the room they need. A room filled with sensitive beams that would set off the alarm. The fact that Chuck can’t flash has him believing he can’t do it, but after some encouraging words…flash. Chuck is able to maneuver into the middle of the room on to the table, where he attempts several ways to get to the other side to the case. It ends up being a handstand and flip back that does the trick. Going back through, an out of breath Chuck tells them “that they could talk now”, but he accidentally hits a beam, closing the vault and locking him in.

Two men downstairs see that the vault alarm has gone off and go to investigate. Sarah tells Chuck that she’s going to get him out, that’s when gas starts to fill the room. Taking off the air grate, Sarah crawls inside to rescue Chuck as he tries to explain why he did what he had in Prague and what Karina had told him earlier. As Sarah gets the door of the vault open, Chuck falls forward into her simply saying “I love you”

(commercial)

Chuck is still knocked out with an I.V. and they are told that what’s in the case is something that “they haven’t seen.” Karina grabs the case and reminds Sarah of her offer (to join her on her next mission.) Chuck has woken up, unnoticed and hears this and as Sarah talks to the general, believing that Chuck is in more danger with her around. The general tells her to get over it, and Sarah tells Chuck that training is going to begin.

Sarah is teaching him to fight with a staff, but Chuck is half in it, and she keeps telling him to flash, but he can’t. He wants to talk, but she tells him that spies don’t have feelings. She wants him to hit her, but he can’t…he won’t. She swipes him underneath the leg sending him to the ground.

Outside of the Buy More, Carl has been following Karina, who goes inside and hands the ‘case’ to Morgan to give to Chuck. He agrees to as long as she promises to go to the housewarming party and hands her a flyer. She tries to get away from Carl’s cronies, but it’s no use and the two have a heart to heart, where Carl tells her that he believes her to be a spy. When she tries to deny this he shows her a surveillance video of Chuck, in which he calls Karina a “cold spy, throwing out words and emotions like love.” Karina mutters that she’s going to “kill Bartowski” but Carl holds up the party flyer with a picture of Chuck and Morgan and says that he’s “going to kill him, but don’t worry you’re next”

(commercial break: this one features another Honda/Olympics commercial with Ellie, Awesome’s, and Morgan’s trip to Vancouver)

The Housewarming Party is in full swing, and Lester and Jeff inform Morgan that Karina’s there. Carl and his cronies are with her, and Jeff calls the party a “sausage fest.” Carl asks if this is the Bartowski apartment and they shove their way past the three Buy More employees inside.

Morgan calls Chuck to tell him that Karina is there and what happened, and that he’s going to go after her. Chuck advises him not to saying it’s “dangerous-ly uncool.”

Jeff and Lester decide to challenge them all to a drinking contest, and as another drunk guy comes in Karina slips something into the drink in the confusion, but since neither Carl or the cronies don’t take the drinks, Lester and Jeff do and are knocked out.

Watching everything unfurl, Casey is ready with the guns, but Chuck convinces him not to go out like that because Karina’s still alive and Carl doesn’t know where the case is. This is all put in jeopardy as Morgan finally gets the courage to talk to Karina and talk he does. He goes off on Karina, and he opens the table the drinks were on and takes out the gold case, telling her that “if she wants Chuck to have it she needs to take it to him herself” and shoves the case at Carl. Picking up the last drink he takes a sip and turns and takes a step before he’s knocked out, landing next to Lester.

There has to be a plan B. A ‘button’ that they push as Chuck likes to say and Casey is “the button.” Dressed in a robe he gets the water hose, spraying and telling everyone to get out and go. Karina, Carl, the cronies, Sarah, Chuck, and Casey are in the area, that is now empty, guns drawn on each other, Carl’s on Karina’s. Chuck convinces Sarah and Casey to put their guns down, before he tosses what is possibly a small flair into the fountain as a distraction.

This doesn’t do much and Chuck tries to get Carl to let Karina go, but we learn that Karina has broken Carl’s heart. After a speech about how it might have been the first time Carl’s been in love and that it’s hard because of his profession (Chuck obviously speaking from experience) Karina tells him that “she fell in love with him.” but of course this is a croc and she knocks him out stating “yeah right, spies don’t fall in love.”

(commercial break)

Chuck, Sarah, and Casey are being debriefed by the general and Chuck tried to mess with the case, but she tells him not to, that he doesn’t need to flash, and that she’s just glad it’s back in safe hands.

In the general’s office we see her talking to someone named Shaw and telling them that they need to tell them…of course we don’t know what.

Outside Chuck is cleaning up and Sarah tells him that he did his job, he talked Carl down, and had done so because of his emotions. He continues on cleaning up, yelling at Morgan that he’s “cleaning up his mess” and “he hopes it was worth it.”

We then see that it was very well worth it to Morgan who’s had a night of lovin’ with Karina, because no one’s ever told him no, and she thinks “that’s sexy.”

Karina is about to leave, but before she does she gives Sarah a going away present, a zip drive, which Sarah plugs into the computer. What’s on it is the surveillance video from when Chuck was locked in the vault. Sarah watches as Chuck tells her that his reason for being a spy was because it was something bigger than himself. He was doing it for “my friends, my family, for you, because Sarah, I love you.”

Chuck vs the Pink Slip

alright after 7 long long months without Chuck, the Nerd Herd spy is back in action. The show was nearly canceled, not because of lack of fans or because it was a 'bad show'(read my previous post for all this information)but with this two hour premiere of Chuck I can honestly say this season is going to be amazing.

now for a recap of tonight's first episode.
*Disclaimer: there are spoilers...lots of them, so if you haven't seen the episode I advise you stop right here and go to NBC.com or Hulu sometime and check it out (the episodes aren't up yet, but should be in a day or two.)

Now that you have been warned if you continue reading and haven't seen the episode don't get mad if you feel it's ruined for you...you've been warned and I have no sympathy for you.

and recap starts now....

After a quick recap of what happened at the end of last season (the intersect being re-uploaded into Chuck’s brain and his knew apparent kung fu skills)

Six months later: We find Chuck in what appears to be a dark room, probably a basement with a few men. After grabbing the suitcase and ‘fighting’ off one guy, we see him grab their gun and in his ear the general telling him to “shoot him.” However instead of doing this, Chuck shoves a chair and fights his way out, running with the suitcase and the general telling him to head to a rooftop where a helicopter would be. However she soon tells him that he’s going to have to zip line across and the old nervous Chuck that we all love comes out. The general tells him to flash, and he does his best to even trying to make himself flash by talking to himself , “Flash. Flash.” After trying to talk to the general once again, and there being no response, we learn that this has all just been a simulation, and that the government has put in a million dollars to train Chuck, and that it wasn’t working out because the intersect had been meant for a real spy. This leads to Chuck being fired.

We then go back six months where we learn that Sarah has decided she wants to run away with Chuck and leave the spy life behind, but as we can see from the previous scene this is not the future for Chuck and Sarah, at least not yet.

Back after Chuck’s firing from spy life we see him sitting on Ellie and Awesome’s couch, talking about how he’s lost Ellie and after being told to call her he does. She’s swimming in a pool, and after getting out a man sitting by a table tells her, her phone is ringing. We see it’s Chuck, and she picks up the phone. Instead of answering it, however, she tosses it into the pool

(opening credits and commercial break: which includes a rather entertaining Honda/Winter Olympics commercial with Ellie, Awesome, and Morgan)

Back from commercial break we see Chuck as he goes through a montage of eating Cheese balls, hanging up his robe, and growing a beard that would make Joaquin Phoenix proud. The ‘break up’ with Sarah has clearly gotten to him and not even Morgan can get him up. The only thing that seems to work is the fact that he’s run out of cheese balls. Disguising himself with a hat and sunglasses he goes to the Buy More for more Cheese balls, and we learn that Big Mike is no longer there, and Emmett has taken over, and things are quite different at the store. He believes that Chuck is someone who’s been stealing toilet paper from the restroom and sends the guards to him. After learning that it’s Chuck, he tries to make a mockery of him and we see Chuck flashing on something, and he fights to rip Emmett apart. With this encounter over and done with we learn that Lester and Jeff want Chuck to come back and save them from their new boss. It is here we also learn that Sarah has been spotted going in and out of the yogurt/ice cream place across the street.

Chuck goes over to see if she’s there, picking the lock to get in, but after being knocked to the ground he’s greeted by John Casey. Chuck inquires about whether or not he’s kept in with “the team” aka Sarah. Chuck believes that he can still flash, no matter what has been going around, everyone calling him a “lemon”, that he’s “broken“ and that the “team” should get back together. This causes Chuck to realize he has to ‘clean up’ for Chuck and shaves the god awful beard.

(commercial break)

Casey and Chuck arrive at a restaurant where Sarah is also working under cover. The fired spy goes over and she tells him to kiss her, which he does and is followed by being slapped across the face. The three gather in a room in the back to go over things, and after Casey and Sarah leave again, Chuck accidentally knocks out the guitar player for the evening, and with the guitar case in hand and costume on he’s pushed onto the stage. At first he stands there awkwardly tuning and saying “Bueno. Bueno” nervously, before he takes a look a the guitar and flashes, and suddenly Chuck has turned into Paco de Lucia. Sarah and their target (her date) are on the dance floor and we learn that Chuck has flashed that an assassin is there, but he doesn’t know who (though we know that it’s the guitar player he accidentally knocked out with a wig and fake nose). As Sarah and the man dance Chuck sees a red dot on them, and when it lands on Sarah he reacts, tackling her to the ground. He tries to explain himself, but since he can’t tell them who the assassin was it doesn’t go over to well. Casey wants to kill Chuck and Sarah tells him “that he’s not a spy.”

(commercial break)

Chuck is back in his robe and with his cheese balls and tells Awesome that “this is his life” because he was fired. It is soon after that Morgan comes over, and even though Hawaii was awesome and the Benihana school had gone well (which is what he’d told Chuck earlier), he takes him to the Buy More into the entertainment room, where he’s been living for a while. His reason for this because “he couldn’t flip the shrimp.”

Outside of the store the manager is in his car and we see him get out as the assassin approaches, holding Chuck’s Nerd Herd badge. He asks where he can find the employee, and is told he doesn’t work there any more, but he should “follow the smell.” When the assassin doesn’t leave, Emmett pushes his jacket back giving him the option of doing it “the easy way or the hard way.” The assassin takes the easy way and shoots him through the head, and as he falls back into the garbage we see his glasses fall, a hole in them and blood splattered around it.

Chuck and Morgan are then seen walking out of the Buy More

(commercial)

Sarah and Chuck are in the Buy More beginning to have a conversation, but are interrupted by a group of men with guns and the assassin knocks Chuck out.

He wakes up in a concrete room, the assassin walking in and telling him that he wants to know everything he knows and about ‘the girl.’ This ensues a flash back to Prague (where Sarah had told Chuck to meet her) and she’s standing on the train platform with their passports and new identities, Chuck’s new name being Hector, but as we know from earlier he doesn’t take the offer.

Back in present day, Casey and a team are trying to locate Agent Walker her last known whereabouts being the Buy More.

In his cell Chuck believes if he can get a flash of kung fu he can get out of there, and we then hear Sarah’s voice. She tells him that he needs to break out of his cell and then get her, but Chuck believes that he can’t and he is a “lemon” like everyone was saying. She tells him that he’s wrong and when the assassin comes back in, threatening both Chuck and Sarah, Chuck knocks him out with one punch and grabs the keys. With both him and Sarah now free they leave the building, having to zip line down to the ground (this time Chuck’s able to do it).

Chuck believes they are safe, but when we see a man with a gun pointed at them, we all learn that this is far from the truth. Luckily, Casey in a helicopter with a gun, has come in to save the day.

(commercial)

In the meeting room we learn that the general has decided to put Team Bartowski in action once again.

Casey has gotten Chuck his job back at the Buy More, and it’s been said that Emmett has been moved to a Buy More in Anchorage, an obvious cover. Morgan has also been rehired.

Sarah speaks to the general and is told that he is seen as dangerous, and that “they protected Chuck from the world, but now they have to protect the world from Chuck.”

Coming home Chuck and Morgan find that Ellie is walking out with boxes and that she and Awesome are moving, and that Chuck should get a room mate because he has lots of friends. Morgan’s rather excited about this, to which Ellie states “other friends’

Morgan goes in and Sarah goes out to talk to Chuck telling him that he has to keep his feelings to himself. Casey then shows up to tell Chuck that his training is beginning and the two are then seen with boxing gloves, Eye of the Tiger playing in the back, as he tries to get him to flash. Casey tells him to take in a breath and after he does, Chuck flashes.

Save Chuck

since this is going to be my official Chuck Blog, I thought it best if I transfer a former Chuck post I made on my other blog. This was back when us fans, and those who I guess aren't fans, didn't know whether or not Chuck was going to be back for a 3rd season...so enjoy...

Remember the campaign going around the high school in the 1986 film Ferris Bueller's Day Off? Ferris' absence from school, playing sick to the parents, got a group of students to start asking for donations to help get him a new kidney. Even a little later in the film painted on the water-tower in bold, black lettering is the slogan SAVE FERRIS.

Ferris Bueller wasn't actually in need of saving, maybe from Mr. Rooney or his parents if they found out he was really playing hooky, but come on, he was never in any real danger of being caught. However, there has been a young man who's sparked another SAVE campaign, and this one can definitely use all the help he can get. This would be a young man named Chuck Bartowski.

Chuck Bartowski, like Ferris Bueller, is a fictional character. Chuck is the lead in the NBC television show of the same name. A show about a guy who works as a part of the Nerd Herd at the Buy More, sort of like the Geek Squad at Best Buy. Chuck's ex-college room-mate, Bryce Larkin, sends him an email with a game they created back at Stanford. When he beats it images start to flash rapidly. An intersect, or computer, has been downloaded to his brain with government secrets. Chuck is now able to "Flash" on people who are involved in any government operation. The NSC and CIA send agents, John Casey of the NSC and Sarah Walker of the CIA to be Chuck's handlers, while he tries to find a way to get this intersect out of his head, and has to hide his new 'spy life' from his family, sister Ellie and her fiance, Devon a.k.a. Captain Awesome, and his best friend Morgan. The show is filled with action, comedy, and even a little romance and drama at times.

For the past season it has become unclear whether or not NBC is going to renew the show for a third season. It really isn't clear why the network would drop the show, it's entertaining (at least I think so) and has a pretty solid fanbase. In fact the fans of the show are letting their voices be heard with the Save Chuck campaign. Fans aren't the only ones getting in on this campaign either, TV critics have joined as well. The addition of these critics should be something to open up NBC's eyes to the fact that fans and critics alike don't want this show to go anywhere, at least not right now any ways.

Fans of the show have been purchasing sandwiches at Subway and on the comment cards writing "Chuck" as the person who purchased the meal. Zachary Levi even got into the action at a Subway in Birmingham, England when he lead a group to the deli-restaurant and stepped behind the counter to make the sandwiches himself. Zachary made a comment to the network that is practically holding his career in the balance at the moment,

"You see, NBC? This is what happens when you might cancel a show that people care about."

This isn't the only thing fans are doing to try and save the show. They are sending boxes of nerds to the president of NBC and a online petition to save the show, started Monday after the season finale, already has 7,600 signatures on it.

Will it suffer the same fate as the show Jericho, which was saved by fans only to be cancelled shortly after? Will the support of the fans and critics be able to keep Chuck around for a third season and longer?

Save Ferris...no, SAVE CHUCK!!
